In my reading today of the local newspaper, there was a statement made by someone in a business meeting, which offended others.  It was addressed, but those offended, were not sure if the statement was truly meant to be harmful or just done in jest as was the excuse made for it.  This reminds me that God's word found in Psalm 10:14 "Wise people store up knowledge, bnut the mouth of the follish is near destruction."

In other words do more listening, then speaking for the tongue will get you in trouble, even when in jest.  People take things out of context sometimes and it causes much harm before it is truly explained.  Some just are looking for a fight, so anything said, means anything goes.  We need to get back to being people who gather knowledge like Mary at the feet of Jesus, then guard our tongues that only wisdom is released, not misunderstandings.  Watch who is around  you and realize that even if you don't know them, they may know you or of you.  Plus they may be the one that jumps into a situation to protect their family/friend's reputation, and you didn't even know they were kin.

Practise good speach in both public and private.  This way great habits begin to form in your life, and you will never have to say "I didn't mean it, I am sorry."

Pray this prayer with me today "Father in the name of Jesus my Savior, please forgive me for failing to to safeguard my tongue.  I don't know how many people I have hurt with words even in jest.  I wish to be obedient to your wisdom and word.  Forgive me where I fail you and  others.   Praise you and thank you for everything.  Amen and Amen
